On Behalf of | Nov 23, 2014 | Physician Licensure |

Interstate physician licensure gained support from the AMA when it adopting a policy in support of the Federation of State Medical Boards (FSMB) interstate compact for licensure in November.  Interstate licensure would greatly simply the practices of those physicians who practice via telehealth across state lines, but also even those who practice in border areas and may work at sites on both sides of a state line.  Interstate licensure would not completely solve all the issues involved as liability insurance would still need for obtained for all sites of practice.  Most medical malpractice policies are state-specific and so physicians who practice in multiple states often must hold multiple malpractice policies, one for each state.
